Today, Checkout 3.1.1 was released.
This update resolves several issues, including:
- The Store Manager window is now resizable. The default size is larger.
- A rare login issue that caused anonymous (employee) transactions to be created. All unknown employee transactions will be assigned to the first employee.
- Issue with product variations UI when viewed on Lion. When scrolling, lines would appear in the product list.
- Several rounding issues that caused crashes when viewing/exporting the Ledger.
- When exporting the Ledger to AccountEdge, illegal characters (tabs, carriage returns, etc) have been removed, and the memo field will have a 256 character maximum length.
- Synced Enstore Orders were causing the Ledger to crash.
- Enstore Orders with multiple tax rates didn’t print the taxes correctly.
- When printing an unallocated Order, the Total including Tax would print as the Tax amount.

Today, Checkout 3.1 was released.
This update includes minor enhancements and resolves several issues, including:
- Resolved an issue where a crash would occur in the Stock Room, when working with newly created Products
- We now support rounded product prices amounting to 6.99 including tax (as an example). At the same time, we addressed rounding throughout Checkout to ensure that Bankers Rounding was being used consistently. It is possible, in some cases, that the tax inclusive prices of some products may have a difference of 0.01 when compared to the previously calculated price in Checkout.
- The thermal receipt was modified to print the last 4 digits of the credit card, card type (if the card was swiped) and approval code. The receipt was also modified to better handle multiple credit card payments of a single Invoice.
- The Online Payments report was renamed to be the Processed Payment report and now displays/prints the last 4 digits of the credit card, card type (if the card was swiped) and approval code.
- The Ledger export now allows integration with AccountEdge Basic as well as AccountEdge (including Plus, Pro and Network Edition).
- The Enstore sync has been optimized to handle larger stores.
- Issues are now reported more consistently, if an error is encountered when a store is being backed up.
- When an Invoice is created, the Pay window now comes up automatically, if the option is enabled in your store’s Preferences.

Checkout Heads West
The birthplace of Checkout, as many of you know, is (and always will be) beautiful Amsterdam. But events of the past few months have led us to assemble a new team in a new place. We’ve recently launched Acclivity NYC in Manhattan and we’re decidedly enthusiastic about this new chapter in Checkout’s history. The impact for customers? Initially, very little. You’ll continue to be supported by the same team in our New Jersey-based customer center. Over time, though, we expect the impact to be significant. We are building a larger team, which will, in turn, deliver a broader, deeper product. More features, faster response times, enhanced stability.
Did we mention we’re hiring?
Thank you Steve Jobs
Today, we all lost an inspiration whose vision helped shape the way we interact with the world around us. Thank you Steve.

Our friends and partners at Sofa have been acquired by Facebook. Yes, that Facebook. It seems Facebook recognizes world-class design when they see it. The Sofa team will be relocating to Silicon Valley in the coming months and working at Facebook HQ full-time.
So what of Checkout and Enstore?
Acclivity and (an affiliate of) Sofa have simultaneously agreed, in principle, to a deal where Acclivity will own, develop and sell both Checkout and Enstore going forward. We’re beyond excited at what the future holds for both products.
In summation, Checkout and Enstore customers won’t notice a difference in the short-term. Acclivity will be working hard on expanding Checkout and Enstore capabilities. The Sofa guys will be friending/unfriending people for the foreseeable future. Let the champagne flow….

While Checkout helps you keep tabs on your sales, stock, and customers, how is your store really doing?
You have other expenses, such as rent, utilities, payroll, and insurance. Checkout helps you determine how healthy your bottom line really is by exporting General Journal entries to AccountEdge, so that you can run financial reports and get a better understanding of your profitability.
AccountEdge (including Plus and Network Edition) needs to be installed on the Mac that you’re doing the configuration on. This video covers how to configure the export, and how to import the General Journal Entries.
