Creating a custom Checkout report

Read on at The Checkout Blog

The last blog entry covered customizing Checkout’s templates. This time we’ll take a look at customizing a report. If you’d like to customize a report, you’ll need to know HTML, possibly some Python, and have an HTML editor. TextMate is a great example of a versatile editor.

The Checkout online manual has a section on how to customize reports. We also have a quick video that shows you how to make a change to the Stock Report to add the Brand field. If you’d like to, you can also download the custom report that was created in the video.

Looking for quantity sold with gross and net profit per Product? The Product Sales Analysis Report should do the trick. (Report Preview)

Some Checkout users track Products by Brand or Tag. If you’re one of them, and want to see a total of sales by Brand or sales by Tag, download the report that fits your needs. As a quick note, if a product has multiple Tags, it will only appear under the product’s first Tag. Feeling ambitious? Try adding an export to the report, or check back and see when we’ve added one. We also have these custom reports available for download:

If you prefer to export sales data and manipulate it in Excel or Numbers, the Product Sales Detail is what you’ll need. It even includes an indication of if the sale was retail or web.

Have a suggestion for a future report? Please send us feedback and you just might see it added to the list above.
